Student_Medical_Staff_NHS_Protest_Outside_Richmond_House_London-4.jpg
Department of Health, Richmond House, 79 Whitehall, London, UK. 2nd December, 2015. Up to 200 medical staff and supporters gather outside the Department of Health in Whitehall to protest against the government's recent announcement that they are removing the NHS bursaries for student nurses, midwives, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, podiatrists, radiographers, dietetics and operating department practitioners. The demonstrators claim the cuts will mean many new medical staff will be left with thousands of pounds worth of debt, which could take 111 years to pay back from a salary which is capped at a 1% rise over the next 4 years and not in line with the rising costs of living in the UK. The demonstrators chanted "God Save Our Bursary" and "Bursaries Not Bombs" during the protest.
